Use your wings

Hello everyone,

and welcome to post where today I am sharing a small art journal page.

I went for the vintage style again today. I love doing a bit of everything !

I decided my bird cage had to be silver ! So i got out the embossing ink and silver embossing powder.

Here you can see how that looked after two layers of embossing powder.

I added some black archival ink to make it a little less shiny and 'new'.

Here is a detail of my page. I started with a piece of 7 Dots Studio paper from the Writer's Block collection. I added some paint with a brayer and stamped it randomly. I stitched around the border with my sewing machine and added some pieces of paper, thread and fabric. I added some stamped butterflies and a sentiment by Tim Holtz. That finished it off nicely.

I have used this Chipboard:

You will find it HERE

Thank you for stopping by today !

June's Our Mixed Media Moods Challenge

Hi UmWowStudio Fans.....
Spring has popped....
the birds are singing
and I am in the full throws of preparing the decorations
for my daughters upcoming wedding.
Due to all the hubbub.....
I have been very lacking in inspiration of late
so I decided to pop over
to our fearless leader challenge....
Our Mixed Media Moods
everything about this mood board made my heart sing.

SOOOO.....I went to my box of UmWowStudio goodies
and decided to challenge myself to create with the
pieces parts that were floating around in the bottom of my box.

I then covered a piece of artboard
with vintage dictionary paper.
When dry, I spritzed it with water and tore off the
loose edges.

I then arranged the leftover chippies on my artboard.

I randomly applied Modeling Paste to the artboard
and used it as an adhesive to hold the chippies in place.
When dry, I applied a layer of Clear Gesso.

I didn't like the look of the semi painted chippies
so I created a slurry of Modeling Paste and water
and painted the chipboard.
When dry I applied another layer of Clear Gesso
to help facilitate the movement of color and water.

Now came the colors. I chose Desert Sun Glimmer Glaze
because I knew when it was dry it would be permanent.

Once dry, I spritzed the canvas with Sapphire Glimmer Mist.
Then, I used a baby wipe to take off some of the Sapphire
to expose more of the yellow.
I painted on a bit more Desert Sun then ran
my Vintage Photo ink pad over top of the canvas.
This made my heart sing....again!

I pulled out my package of
UmWowStudio ~ Home Grown Mash
and painted my chosen leaves green.

Here is my finished project.....

Thank you SOOO MUCH for stoppin' by the blog today.
I hoped you enjoyed my creative process....
POP over to Our Mixed Media Moods and play along!!

"Put on your Cape" Grunge Wooden Tag

Hello creative people! Miranda here! I am SO HAPPY to be posting here for the
first time on this amazing team, full of so much talent!
It truly is a dream come true, and I hope I may be able to share some
inspiration with you all during my time here!
I had created a wooden tag very similar to this a few months ago,
however it was sent out to a trade show and came back
all messed up. I couldn't bare to trash it, so I decided to give it some
extra love and a remake! Enter Um Wow :)
What can I say.....DeeDee makes the best products! I even used her new
range with 7 dots! Squeal!

I kept the colors pretty monochromatic with just browns, hints of gold.
I love using alcohol inks and gold foil! 2 of my favorite mediums! Staples for me!
And the chipboard took them so well!

I used the new stencil for Dreamscapes by DeeDee for 7 Dots on the "P", using micro beads and
matte gel. Of course it was covered in alcohol ink afterwards :)

These butterfly wings are BEYOND gorgeous! I gold foiled them and the background
hexagon and then highlighted with more alcohol ink. That was pretty much the technique
through out the piece ;)

Lastly for my title I just had to add one of the gorgeous crowns! If you are putting on
a cape to fly, throw on a crown too hehe! It blends a bit in the photos
but in person it is lovely.

And Just a close up of the ribbon and rope tied to the top, extra grungy of course .

I hope you like my project! I will be back to share a tutorial and new project soon! Hugs!

The heart on the backside is my sign I think - so I love it!

The chipboard is covered with leaf gold. An I became professional by the work with it ;)

I like distressed look of the stars!
